Our Arena and Training facilities
We play out of Sheffield Arena which has been the home of Sheffield Steelers since we formed in 1991.
The building was officially opened by the Queen on 30th May 1991. The £34 million building was constructed specifically to host the World Student Games, and has since hosted concerts, ice shows, theatre style shows, ice hockey, numerous sports, exhibitions and conferences.
During the summer of 2013 the Motorpoint (Sheffield) Arena underwent a multi-million pound investment with many improvements such as a new roof and the replacement of all 12,500 seats.
For the Steelers the refurbishment has also meant brand new scratch resistant plexiglass ensuring an enhanced viewing spectacle for our supporters. For ice hockey the capacity is 9,600 making it the largest ice-rink facility in the UK.
The arena is also used as a major concert venue throughout the year, with major acts playing.
